Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones stunned NFL and Cowboys fans by revealing details about his health. The businessman faced a harsh reality in 2010 and overcame it with the determination only someone of his caliber could show.

Jones is known for his strong personality, which became the key to confronting a serious medical diagnosis. On Wednesday, he opened up about more than a decade-long battle with a disease that could not defeat him.

A decade-long battle for a true fighter

According to Athlonsports, Jerry Jones received a stage 4 melanoma diagnosis in June 2010. He told The Dallas Morning News that he underwent an experimental treatment to fight the cancer, and he also survived two lymph node surgeries and two lung surgeries.
Today, the Pro Football Hall of Famer reportedly has no tumors in his body. He calls his recovery a miracle, attributing it to the PD-1 medication that he says saved his life.

The full story will appear in episode 5 of the Netflix documentary “America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys,” set to premiere next week, and fans are eagerly awaiting it.

Fans quickly reacted to the news of Jones’s condition. On Reddit, some of the top comments include:

  • “No matter how frustrating he can be, I’m glad he overcame it. Life and health are more important than sports.”

  • “He may be the reason this team hasn’t won a Super Bowl in 30 years, but I’m glad cancer didn’t claim another victim here.”

  • “I don’t like Jerry as an owner these days, but I don’t want the man to die.”

  • “Cancer sucks, I’m glad he beat it!
