The bond between Micah Parsons and Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones is completely broken. The moment Jones approved the trade sending Parsons to the Packers, there was no turning back. Recently, the franchise owner revealed why he refused to extend Parsons’s contract.
Since the end of the 2024-25 NFL season, drama surrounded Parsons’s contract with Dallas. Negotiations dragged on longer than expected, stretching into the preseason, when the player’s trade was finally announced.
A wide gap between Parsons and Jones
According to Essentiallysports, Parsons reacted to the trade by saying: “I didn’t even get to speak with my owner, the person who drafted me. I found out through my agent. For me, that emotional side didn’t make sense, because just as he once called me into his office, as a man, he couldn’t tell me as a man.”
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan on his response to this quote from Micah Parsons: “I really don’t want to respond to that at all. But that phone call thing got stopped when he told me to take his number off my dial. It was don’t call him any more. So I quit those calls.” https://t.co/ZoJ8Eae8I8

Although the move shocked Parsons, it turned out positive. He signed the contract he wanted and is now a key piece for the Green Bay Packers, making a major impact in every game this season.
In response to Micah remarks, Jerry Jones told 105.3 The Fan: “I really don’t want to respond to that at all. But that phone call ended when he told me to take his number off my brand. It was ‘don’t call me anymore.’ So I stopped those calls.”
This exchange makes clear that neither Parsons wanted to stay with the Cowboys, nor Jones intended to keep him. While Jones remains guarded about the details, he hints that the relationship was already badly damaged. Their differences forced Parsons’s agent into a turbulent situation that only calmed once the trade went through.
