Jaycee Horn, star cornerback for the Carolina Panthers, missed Wednesday morning’s practice after team doctors pulled him out as a precaution. The medical staff evaluated him upon arrival and decided to hold him out to prevent a potential injury.
Horn was involved in a car accident on his way to the NFL training camp. Although he did not suffer any serious injuries, he was unable to train with his teammates.
A minor incident
According to the New York Post, the Panthers reported that “no one involved in the incident required emergency medical transport.” The crash occurred at the corner of Mint and Morehead streets, near the south side of Bank of America Stadium, where the 25-year-old player trains with the team.

Horn was alone in his vehicle and walked away unhurt. Still, the Panthers’ medical staff evaluated him and chose to let him rest as a precautionary measure.
One of the NFL’s highest-paid cornerbacks
Horn recently signed a four-year, $100 million contract with the Panthers, making him one of the highest-paid cornerbacks in NFL history. In comparison, Derek Stingley of the Texans signed a three-year, $90 million extension.
Jaycee Horn is the son of former Pro Bowl receiver Joe Horn. The Panthers selected him with the 8th overall pick in 2021. As a rookie, he only played in three games. In the 2023 season, injuries limited him to just six appearances.
In 2024, after recovering, Horn earned a Pro Bowl nomination. He recorded 68 tackles, 13 passes defended, two sacks, and one interception in 15 games.
Since the accident had no major consequences, Horn may be cleared to return to practice as soon as tomorrow.
