George Pickens shined in Las Vegas. The Cowboys receiver delivered a performance that stunned fans and analysts. Among them was Dez Bryant, the former team star, who reacted immediately.
From his X account, Bryant sent a direct message that caught fans off guard: “George Pickens… I want you to understand that when it’s time to negotiate your new contract, your legacy will be worth more than being the highest-paid receiver… if you stay with the Cowboys.”
A raw diamond for the Cowboys
According to Firstsportz, Pickens is in the final year of his rookie deal. His current production places him among the league’s best receivers, with 908 yards, 58 receptions, and 7 touchdowns. He already outgains teammate CeeDee Lamb by more than 250 yards. As a result, the Lamb-Pickens duo has become one of the few bright spots in an otherwise inconsistent season for Dallas.
George Pickens..I want you to understand that whenever it’s time to negotiate your new contract..your legacy will be worth more than being the highest paid wide receiver..if you stayed with Cowboys. There’s a lot more to the thought process, but think about it….If I were Jerry……

Bryant, who knows contract negotiations with Jerry Jones firsthand, warned that the owner plays by his own rules. “Jerry always pays his favorite players if they play by his rules,” he said. He also suggested a defensive shake-up: “If I were Jerry… I’d respectfully move in a different direction from DC Eberflus… Not because he’s a bad coach. I’d offer Al Harris the defensive coordinator job and let him find his defensive support.”
The Cowboys’ defense has been a persistent issue. It allows more than 25 points per game and struggles to stop the run. Bryant believes keeping a young, committed roster is essential. “I played with guys who were past their deadline and didn’t love the game anymore. With all due respect,” he said.
Bryant also shared his personal experience. When it was his turn to negotiate, he failed to reach a deal with Jones and ended up in New Orleans. He doesn’t want Pickens to repeat that outcome. That’s why he insists the receiver should think about his legacy, not just the money.
Jerry Jones, for his part, was thrilled with Pickens’ performance: “I’ve never seen anything like that, and it was poetic how he moved out there. It was like an opera.” However, the Cowboys owner has the final say. He can wait until the end of the season and apply the franchise tag for 29 million dollars in 2026.
