After eleven years with the Dallas Cowboys, DeMarcus Lawrence opened a new chapter in his career. The former All-Pro defensive end now anchors the Seattle Seahawks’ defense, a team competing at full strength in the 2025 NFL season. Lawrence spoke to Essentially Sports about his adaptation, mindset, and partnership with REIGN Total Body Fuel.

“My favorite REIGN Total Body Fuel is Orange Dreamsicle… the boost it gave me in the gym made me feel great and I had an excellent workout,” he explained. He also praised the product’s “clean” energy, without the jitters he associates with other drinks.

Culture, leadership, and a pending goal

On leaving Dallas, Lawrence stated clearly, “It’s part of my journey… having the chance to keep chasing my dreams is incredible.” In Seattle, he found renewed motivation, driven by the defensive identity and connection with the fans. “Seeing the fan culture and the love… being part of that is an amazing journey,” he said.

Lawrence said he retains the same tenacity as early in his career, now paired with a deeper understanding of the game. His personal goal remains unchanged: the Super Bowl. In a franchise with a defensive tradition, he sees himself contributing through his own style. “Just playing my style of football… get the ball!”

Working under Mike Macdonald has been another key factor. “It’s definitely a great experience… a head coach with a defensive mindset,” Lawrence said. He also praised young talents like Nick, highlighting their ability to perform under pressure. On leadership, Lawrence leads by example. “I try to guide people with my actions, not just my words.”

Nicknamed ‘Tank’ since childhood, he defines it as an identity: being a land force and protecting my territory. Off the field, he balances life with family, faith, and personal time. Committed to the community, he plans to give back to Seattle. His final message to the twelfth man was direct: “I AM HERE. WE ARE HERE. WILL RISE. WE WILL HAVE FUN.”
