At a press conference on Monday, NFL coach Deion Sanders spoke about his health after retiring from football. He also discussed his recent battle with bladder cancer and took the opportunity to send a message to another player who also fought the disease.

Sanders now sees things from a new perspective and shared with the media what happened to him. The head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes discovered his condition during a routine check-up for another issue he was experiencing. This diagnosis was completely unexpected for him and his family.

A victory achieved off the field

According to a report from Athlonsports, Deion Sanders has undergone 14 surgeries since leaving the NFL. However, his latest diagnosis was the most challenging. He managed to overcome it thanks to the strong support he received from those around him.

Regarding this, Coach Prime explained that his eldest son, Deion Sanders Jr., was with him every day. Additionally, Karrueche Tran was also by his side, which has linked her to Sanders during the NFL offseason. She was even with him when he underwent the procedure to remove his bladder.

During his statement, Deion Sanders said that during the process, he didn’t feel like himself and didn’t want to see anyone. However, he deeply appreciated receiving calls from former NFL players and well-known people who made sure he kept the positive attitude he’s known for.

One of those NFL players, Randy Moss, who overcame bile duct cancer, reached out to Sanders to offer support. Moss kept in touch with Sanders over the past four months, calling him every two days and helping him through this difficult time.

Randy Moss… Man. I love him to life… Love him more than ever. I pray—he told me he’ll come to a game this year. I pray for that, but he gave me so much strength, so much guidance, and so much love and appreciation. Thank you, Randy. I appreciate you, I truly do,” said Sanders about his friend.
