Dak Prescott is playing like a quarterback determined to leave a mark, but he’s not interested in hearing about it. After the Dallas Cowboys’ Week 5 win over the New York Jets, chants of “MVP” echoed through MetLife Stadium. Prescott heard them, but didn’t embrace them. “I heard it, but I didn’t hear it. I don’t care. It’s Week 5. I wouldn’t care if it were Week 17,” said the signal-caller, as reported by FirstSportz.

His response wasn’t dismissive—it was calculated. Dak Prescott knows that individual accolades can distract from what really matters: team performance. And if he’s proven anything over the last two weeks, it’s that he can lead even under pressure. Without his starting offensive line or top receiver, he threw for 556 yards and eight touchdowns, with no interceptions, posting passer ratings of 124.9 and 127.4. He did it against aggressive defenses like the Jets, who came at him with multiple blitz packages.

A frontrunner for MVP

Former Cowboys wideout Dez Bryant named Dak Prescott and Baker Mayfield as his MVP picks. But the Dallas quarterback isn’t getting caught up in the noise. His focus is on staying consistent, especially in a season where the Cowboys are reshaping their offense and still finding rhythm.

The narrative that’s followed Dak Prescott for years—that he’s solid in the regular season but fades in the playoffs—is starting to crack. In Week 4 against the Packers, he threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns. Against the Jets, he added four more scores. He protected the ball, avoided turnovers, and was sacked just once. Those numbers are beginning to speak louder than any chant.

A promising schedule ahead

The Dallas Cowboys’ schedule doesn’t pose major threats until Week 10, which could give Dak Prescott room to keep stacking strong performances. But the real test will come when starters return and tougher defenses line up across from him. If he maintains this level, he could shift the conversation—not just about his season, but about his legacy.

Right now, Dak Prescott isn’t chasing the MVP. He’s chasing wins. And if the trophy comes as a result, he’ll take it. But for now, the Cowboys quarterback is letting the ball do the talking.
