Dak Prescott is enjoying one of the best individual seasons of his career. However, that performance has not translated into collective success. The Dallas Cowboys are close to missing the playoffs for a second straight year. Even so, the quarterback continues to set the league’s statistical pace.

Prescott leads the NFL in pass attempts with 522 and completions with 357. He has 3,931 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Those numbers reinforce his value. Dallas, by contrast, continues to struggle. With a 6-7-1 record heading into Week 16, the Cowboys sit second in the NFC East behind the Philadelphia Eagles and tenth in the conference.

Last year, Prescott signed a four-year, $240 million contract extension. The investment was decisive. The three-time Pro Bowl quarterback answered with production. At 32 years old, he acknowledges a clear evolution and links it directly to his preparation.

Preseason work as the foundation

Speaking to the media, as reported by Athlon Sports, Prescott explained how he elevated his level. “Yes, for sure. And I hope I can say the same thing next year. That’s how I’ve approached this game and how I’ve worked… Coming back from the injury last season, as soon as I could, my preseason started much earlier,” he said.

Prescott emphasized that his individual performance reflects that process. “I think the individual performance and the plays came from the work I put in during the preseason… Honestly, I plan to start the next one the same way.”

The message points toward 2026. Year ten has been personally memorable. Prescott believes he still has another gear. He plans to unlock it through the same discipline. The schedule offers no pause. Dallas hosts the Los Angeles Chargers at AT&T Stadium. Although the postseason appears distant, the ambition remains intact.

Prescott refuses to lower the standard. He plays to win, even when circumstances do not cooperate. His leadership shows through consistency and long-term vision. For him, the future begins to take shape before the current season even ends.
