Dak Prescott is playing like he’s got something to prove. And truth is, he’s proving it. In a season marked by injuries, tactical adjustments, and outside skepticism, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback is responding with stats, leadership, and poise. According to data published by Marca, Prescott has completed over 71% of his passes. He’s racked up 1,356 yards, 10 touchdowns, and just three interceptions in five games. But beyond the numbers, what he’s showing is full command of the offense.

The arrival of Brian Schottenheimer as head coach has been a game-changer. The revamped offensive system—more balanced and focused on the run and play-action—has allowed Dak Prescott to tap into his full potential. His EPA (expected points added) on play-action plays far exceeds what he posted in the last three seasons combined. That’s no coincidence: Schottenheimer preached all preseason that success would come from running the ball well and protecting the quarterback. So far, he’s delivered.

Thriving without his stars

What stands out most is how Dak Prescott is thriving without his top offensive weapons. CeeDee Lamb remains sidelined with injury, and KaVontae Turpin is also unavailable. On top of that, the offensive line has had to shuffle in backups. Still, the unit is responding. Jake Ferguson, George Pickens, and Javonte Williams have stepped up as key contributors, and the signal-caller has distributed the ball with precision.

In the latest game against the Jets, Prescott threw four touchdown passes—two to Ferguson—and led two scoring drives of over 90 yards. Dallas won 37-22 and sent a clear message: this team doesn’t rely on star power, it relies on execution. It was also Dak Prescott’s 12th career game with at least four touchdown passes, setting a franchise record for the Cowboys.

Spotlight on the quarterback

All eyes are now on Dak Prescott, who’s starting to enter MVP conversations. If he keeps this pace, he won’t just solidify his place among the NFL’s elite quarterbacks—he could lead Dallas into a postseason with real ambitions. It’s starting to look like the Cowboys finally have a solid plan in place.
