It looks like Lamar Jackson will remain with the Ravens for the 2025-26 NFL season. According to several football critics and analysts, Jackson has everything he needs to outperform Patrick Mahomes. But is this really true?

According to a report by EssentiallySports, Jackson has been an electrifying playmaker in football. However, the numbers currently don’t favor him. In ESPN’s annual survey ranking, he ranked behind Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Joe Burrow.

Even with that setback, the Ravens heavily depend on his talent to go far in the upcoming NFL season. His stats have consistently been strong, to the point that only Patrick Mahomes has a higher quarterback rating.

A highly talked-about quarterback

Since entering the NFL, Jackson has recorded a total of 6,173 rushing yards in his career, which is more than any other quarterback in the league. That’s why veterans like Dan Orlovsky, a former NFL quarterback, chose to vote for Lamar Jackson, quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens.

Recently, on his X account, Orlovsky wrote that he voted for Jackson in the rankings: “I’m going with Lamar. It has to be Lamar.” He still sees the talent in this young player. He also stated: “Two years ago, they had the number one defense in football and fell short. Then last year, they had the number one offense and still came up short… This is the best roster in the NFL outside of Philadelphia. Their offensive line will be top three. Lamar is coming off possibly his best NFL season. His perimeter players are fantastic.”

Even though hopes for the Ravens are high, the results from the ESPN survey rankings speak for themselves. This season, the franchise must prove everything it has to go far—not just to the playoffs, but all the way to the Super Bowl, especially now that they have a balanced roster and Lamar Jackson in peak form.
