The Dallas Cowboys are facing a tough stretch this season. The team fell to a 3-4-1 record after a 44-24 defeat to the Denver Broncos in Week 8. The loss pushed head coach Brian Schottenheimer to make what he called “necessary and urgent changes.”
Once again, Dallas’ defense collapsed. Denver rookie quarterback Bo Nix looked dominant, throwing four touchdown passes with just one interception. He completed 19 of 29 passes for 247 yards, exposing major flaws in the Cowboys’ secondary.
Time for effective adjustments
According to Athlonsports, Denver’s running back RJ Harvey also contributed with two rushing touchdowns on only seven carries. Meanwhile, the Cowboys’ offense fell flat. Quarterback Dak Prescott threw two interceptions and failed to connect for a single touchdown, a shocking performance from an offense that entered Week 8 leading the league in yards per game.

“There will be changes,” Schottenheimer told reporters the following day, as reported by Jon Machota of The Athletic. “Nobody’s happy. Nobody’s satisfied with how we played yesterday. It didn’t meet our standard,” the coach emphasized.
Schottenheimer hinted at immediate tactical adjustments to break the team’s poor momentum. With the trade deadline approaching on November 4, the Cowboys could also explore roster upgrades.
Team owner Jerry Jones confirmed he is open to potential trades if they can strengthen the team. However, he clarified that the loss to the Broncos won’t change their overall strategy. For Dallas to stay alive in the playoff race, they must tighten their defense and restore offensive confidence before the season slips away.
