In the NFL, comparisons are inevitable. But when a head coach places his quarterback above Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Jalen Hurts, the reaction is instant. That’s exactly what Brian Schottenheimer, coach of the Dallas Cowboys, did after the 40–40 draw against the Green Bay Packers. “If there’s a quarterback playing better than Dak Prescott in this league, I’d love to see him,” he said without hesitation, igniting a conversation that’s now echoing across the league.

Brian Schottenheimer’s claim wasn’t baseless. Dak Prescott delivered one of his finest performances of the season. According to Marca, he completed 31 of 40 passes (77.5%) for 319 yards, threw three touchdowns, and added another on the ground—all without a single turnover. His passer rating hit 124.9. That outing made him the first player in Cowboys history to record 22 games with both a passing and rushing touchdown. Since 2016, only Mahomes, Allen, and Hurts have reached similar numbers.

The Cowboys are clicking

Dallas looked sharp on offense. George Pickens, filling in for CeeDee Lamb, racked up 134 yards and two scores. Jalen Tolbert and Jake Ferguson contributed through the air, while Javonte Williams rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown. Brian Schottenheimer’s Cowboys scored on four of five red zone trips and controlled possession for over 34 minutes. All of it with Dak Prescott leading the charge.

Defense, however, was a different story. Jordan Love matched Dak Prescott’s stat line with 337 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. Green Bay scored on every possession in the second half and overtime, leaving Dallas without answers in key moments. The draw was the Cowboys’ first since 1969. And while the result felt bittersweet, Brian Schottenheimer’s trust in his quarterback didn’t waver.

Clear message

The coach also stood by his decision to go for it on fourth down in a critical moment, putting full faith in Dak Prescott’s momentum. And though the scoreboard didn’t show a win, the message was loud and clear: for Brian Schottenheimer, Dak stands above Mahomes, Allen, and anyone else in the conversation.

The NFL isn’t defined by soundbites—but it is shaped by conviction. And Brian Schottenheimer just made his crystal clear. His quarterback wears number 4. His name is Dak Prescott.
