Arthur Jones stunned the NFL world with his sudden death at just 39 years old. The former Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman and Super Bowl XLVII champion passed away. According to an announcement made by the team on its social media accounts on Friday.
Jones played 20 games for the Ravens after joining the NFL in 2010 as a fifth-round draft pick. During his time with the team, he recorded 100 tackles and 8.5 sacks, making a solid impact on Baltimore’s defense.
A heartbreaking loss for football
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Ravens’ official X account confirmed Arthur Jones’s passing. Team general manager Eric DeCosta expressed deep sorrow, saying, “We are profoundly saddened to learn of Arthur Jones’s sudden passing. Arthur’s presence was a gift to everyone around him.”
Jones played for the Ravens from 2010 to 2013. He was the brother of UFC heavyweight legend Jon Jones and left a lasting mark in Baltimore, especially remembered for his crucial sack on 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in Super Bowl XLVII.

In 2014, he joined the Indianapolis Colts, where he spent three seasons. Still, it was during his time with the Ravens that he earned the love of NFL fans thanks to his exceptional ability to pressure opposing quarterbacks.
DeCosta added about the former Raven: “His big smile, contagious energy, and constant positivity inspired everyone around him. He was kind, polite, and enthusiastic, always showing love for his family, teammates, and friends.”
The Indianapolis Colts also expressed their grief, posting on social media: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of our former defensive tackle, Arthur Jones. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and former teammates.”
Even the UFC shared condolences, as president Dana White posted a message on X offering support to Jones’s brother and family.
The cause of Arthur Jones’s death has not been confirmed, but some reports suggest he may have suffered from a heart condition.
