Travis Hunter is on the verge of starting his professional career in the NFL. With the draft just around the corner, it seems his draft stock is fluctuating. The Buffs’ star had an outstanding college football season, but recent events may affect his draft position.

There’s been a lot of buzz about Travis Hunter and his draft position. Initially, the Colorado Buffaloes’ standout was projected as a potential first overall pick. However, all eyes are on these talents, and every detail matters. After some warnings due to imprudent comments, the young player received approval from an NFL legend, Brian Baldinger.

Travis Hunter in the spotlight

Everyone is wondering if this will be enough for the Heisman Trophy winner to reclaim his status as the top draft pick. Travis Hunter ended his college football career on a high note, earning praise for his performance on both offense and defense.

His stats with the Buffaloes speak for themselves. As a receiver, Travis Hunter had 96 receptions for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns. Meanwhile, as a cornerback, his numbers include four interceptions and 11 pass deflections.

But not everyone is convinced. Analysts like Chris Trapasso and Ryan Wilson have placed Travis Hunter as the sixth overall pick. It seems some NFL franchises have concerns about his technique in certain areas. This is where Baldinger stepped in to praise the player during an interview.

Credit to the player

“Well, Travis Hunter is an electric athlete. Before getting into the movements and film study and all that, talk to Deion, talk to Warren Sapp, talk to the guys in his program; this kid loves football. And that’s the best thing you can say about him,” Baldinger said.

Additionally, the former Dallas Cowboys OL added comments from Deion Sanders, who credited Travis Hunter for playing both ways. “I believe he’s a starting corner and can close out games. He has excellent man coverage; he’s outstanding in aerial defense; you just start putting together the packages, the form. Watch his last game against BYU. He was the only player who looked like he belonged in the NFL,” Baldinger continued, praising the player’s field merits.

Other views and a slip-up

However, Baldinger is not the only one who sees Travis Hunter as a dynamic and capable cornerback. Sports analyst Baldinger also shares this opinion, and it seems several NFL teams are interested in drafting him for this position.

So far, so good. But the draft isn’t just about athletic prowess; off-field actions and comments also matter. In this case, Travis Hunter had a minor slip-up.

It was a slip due to a comment he made. At one point, Travis Hunter was asked, “What’s harder? What you do in football or what Ohtani does in baseball?” The kid didn’t play it safe, and his answer didn’t sit well with many.

Travis Hunter responded, “Probably me. What I do in football because it’s a lot on your body, you know. Ohtani, he’s a great player. But you have to do a lot in football.” Some say this response could affect his draft value and position; either way, it has shaken things up, and we’ll soon know what happens.
