Criticism towards Olivia Dunne
These criticisms intensified when an interview she did during the Super Bowl surfaced and went viral. In a mix of love and hate, an X user named @gimternet shared the clip.
In the video, a reporter asks Olivia Dunne, “What’s the hardest class you’re taking at university right now?” Wearing glasses and trying to choose the right words, but a bit unsure, she replied, “Oh, man, I’m taking two classes, ummm, both in technology management.”

The interviewer noticed the low academic load and continued, “So, do you only have two classes left? Or why just two?” To this, Olivia Dunne responded, “I need to take them to be eligible to compete.”
Remember that the NCAA has strict academic requirements for student-athletes to make satisfactory progress toward their degrees while competing. So the interviewer continued, “All you need are six credits?” That’s when Olivia Dunne unexpectedly replied, “I’m just taking enough credits to remain eligible while I compete. Once I finish competing, I’ll complete my master’s degree.”
Controversy
Additionally, Olivia casually and with a smile added, “You know what? Hopefully, I’ll finish it as soon as possible; within a year, that’s the goal.” Comments flooded the internet over what seemed like a casual interview.
Far from encouraging her, many fans mocked her, demonstrating that no one is immune to criticism on the internet—not even the pretty girl Olivia Dunne. For many, the clip was informal, but others saw the perfect moment to criticize her with biting comments.
One user wrote, “The girl is very tired and hasn’t taken any of those classes. My God 😭😭 The challenge to string sentences together failed.” Another argued, “She was STRUGGLING to find answers.” And so on with many others.
Olivia Dunne has not taken a stance on the matter; she continues to focus on her studies, sports practices, and remains active on social media, ignoring the negative comments against her.
