The sophomore player is excited to learn key insights that could open even more doors to the WNBA. For her, the most important thing is what she can contribute to her team to achieve success in the upcoming competition.
She will receive extra advice from an expert
Watkins’ coach, Lindsay Gottlieb, informed the 19-year-old rising star that Caitlin Clark, one of the biggest names in the WNBA, is willing to help her navigate the challenges of being a high-profile player in women’s college basketball.

Even though JuJu Watkins has already surpassed Clark in several NCAA records, having this kind of support means a lot to her. “I haven’t reached out yet… Maybe. I mean, just knowing that I have that support means a lot,” she said.
In fact, Watkins admits she is a huge fan of Caitlin Clark and has enjoyed watching her thrive as a shooting guard for the Indiana Fever. “I’m always proud of her and cheering for her,” she stated.
Her coach has been key to Watkins’ performance
JuJu Watkins gives huge credit to her coach, Gottlieb. In fact, for her, Gottlieb is “one of the main reasons” she chose USC. “Simply because she is so honest and doesn’t sugarcoat things with me… We’re very close,” the player said.
For now, personal records are not Watkins’ main focus—her priority is USC. “It’s definitely first, and everything else comes after.”
And that is no small feat, considering she now has to balance college, basketball, and business commitments. She recently became the face of Degree deodorant and also collaborates with major sports brands like Nike and Nyx.
