Arch Manning struggled as quarterback for the Texas Longhorns. Facing the defending CFP champions, the Ohio State Buckeyes, proved to be a tough challenge. He completed only five passes in nearly three quarters.

Manning faced heavy pressure from Matt Patricia, one of the Buckeyes’ defensive stars, and couldn’t deliver the expected performance. However, what caught fans’ attention was the reaction of Peyton and Eli Manning.

A difficult road for Manning

According to Firstsportz, Peyton and Eli Manning live-streamed the Texas–Ohio State game and didn’t hide their disappointment in Arch’s performance. They had expected a stronger debut from their nephew.

At one point, both covered their faces after watching Arch fail to handle the Buckeyes’ defense. That clip quickly spread on X, but users noticed it wasn’t from Saturday’s game. It actually came from 2023, when the Mannings reacted the same way during a Giants vs. Seahawks matchup.

Back then, quarterback Daniel Jones threw two interceptions in a 24-3 loss.

In Saturday’s game, Arch Manning nearly threw a second interception late in the fourth quarter. Ohio State’s Sonny Styles picked him off, but the referee overturned the call. Manning finished with 17 completions on 30 attempts for 170 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

This sparked a reaction from Skip Bayless, a Cowboys fan and Arch Manning supporter. On X, he wrote: “Final takeaway: Arch Manning wasn’t consistently accurate today. He didn’t show consistent feel or touch. He made two big late completions, one for a TD. But now you have to ask if he’s really the No. 1 overall pick. A long way to go.”
