Deion Sanders ready to the NFL or not?
Despite many fans wanting to see him coaching the Cowboys or any other NFL franchise, Deion Sanders has a firm stance. He rejects the possibility of coaching a professional team.
While there have been discreet talks between the Cowboys and the Colorado Buffaloes’ coach, and there might be ongoing negotiations, Deion Sanders plans to keep coaching in the NCAA—for now, at least.
He himself confirmed this during the “We Got Time Today” show. He stated that he cares about the game and couldn’t coach an NFL team. Also talked about his predictions for this Sunday’s Super Bowl.

“I couldn’t coach pro football. The way they practice, the way they go about it, I couldn’t take it as a man and as a football enthusiast. I care about the game.” It seems Deion Sanders doesn’t want to coach in the NFL. This applies to the Cowboys, the team that drafts his son Shedeur, or any other franchise.
Firm in his decision
This stance has shocked many, but it’s not new. In fact, it aligns with what Deion Sanders has expressed before. In 2022, he mentioned disagreements with the culture of professional football, which kept him away from considering this possibility.
Regarding his sons’ future, it’s a bit different. Mid-last year, it leaked that the coach has plans for them and wants them to follow his legacy. There seems to be a shortlist of 6 teams where the talented Shedeur and Shilo could play professionally: the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons, or Washington Commanders.
It seems we will continue to see Deion Sanders leading the Colorado Buffaloes football program. He still has a lot to give in the NCAA before making the leap. But who knows, he might change his mind and decide to take on a professional franchise.
