In the Sanders universe, touchdowns aren’t just celebrated on the field—they translate into fatherly affection. That’s exactly what Deion Sanders showed on his 58th birthday, when he decided to rank his children in a very personal draft. And yes, Shedeur Sanders climbed to second place thanks to a solid preseason performance with the Cleveland Browns.

Deion Sanders, also known as Coach Prime, shared his “family depth chart” with a mix of pride and humor. It came right after watching Shedeur Sanders throw for 138 yards and two touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers. The young quarterback completed 14 of 23 passes. He didn’t lock down the starting job, but he definitely moved up in his father’s emotional rankings.

The top spot is spoken for

According to The Sport Rush, the number one spot still belongs to Deion Sanders Jr., better known as Bucky. Deion Sanders said Bucky earned it by being the only son who takes care of his brother and still finds time to show love to his dad. “He’s number one. I said it. Let me do the ranking—it’s my birthday,” Deion Sanders declared in classic Prime fashion.

Shedeur Sanders, meanwhile, ranks ahead of three siblings. Deiondra comes in third after giving birth to Snow, Deion Sanders’ first grandchild, on the same day as his birthday. Shelomi lands in fourth, and Shilo—currently a safety for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers—sits in fifth place for now, since he hasn’t yet made his preseason debut.

Family rankings and football realities

Beyond the playful ranking, the moment marks an emotional breather for Deion Sanders, who’s been battling health issues over the past year, including cancer surgery. He’s now back in Boulder, Colorado, gearing up for his third season as head coach of the Buffaloes, hoping this will be the year they break into the playoffs.

As for Shedeur, the road ahead is anything but simple. The Browns’ quarterback room is packed with competition, and earning the starting job won’t be easy. But Shedeur Sanders has already shown he’s more than just Deion Sanders’ son—he’s a player with real talent. And with every pass, he seems to inch closer to his father’s heart.
