Even though Boo Carter missed practices with the Tennessee Volunteers, it’s unlikely he’ll leave the team now that the transfer portal is closed. However, he appears to have found a way to step away, leaving fans on edge. Additionally, Shedeur Sanders’ agent fueled these NCAA rumors.
Carter was an emerging sophomore at Tennessee. In fact, he was one of the team’s top players. But things got tense when he skipped team activities. He further distanced himself from the Vols after a conflict with teammates. He is now completely absent while the rest prepare for fall camp.
According to a report by EssentiallySports, through his X (formerly Twitter) account, Carter made a statement that hinted at his intentions. In a post by “No3” Boog, a user commented, “But there’s no open portal.” Carter’s reply was clear: “There isn’t. But IF I NEEDED to make a move, there’s a way to do it this late.”

Despite Carter’s issues with “multiple team rule violations”, Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel prioritizes team unity and brought in Omar Cooper, who also manages Ace Bailey from the Utah Jazz.
Will he go to Colorado?
Among circulating NCAA rumors, it is believed that Deion Sanders, Colorado’s head coach, wants Carter on his team. This way, Sanders’ team could offer the 19-year-old a full playing opportunity. However, he won’t be able to join this fall, but a move for next season is possible.
Still, Tennessee might not take Boo Carter’s situation lightly. Journalist Adam Sparks stated, “I think UT would probably go after that school for tampering, but there’s a chance they might try to do it.” So, if it’s found that NCAA recruiting rules are being broken by attempting to recruit Carter while he’s still with Tennessee, the team could take legal action through the program’s official channels.
