It seems the Warriors still can’t recover, as they were once again defeated by their eternal rivals, the Lakers. Amid this frustrating cycle, they brought in Jimmy Butler, to whom coach Steve Kerr sent a strong message, placing a great responsibility on his shoulders.

Both Kerr and Stephen Curry made it clear that the goal was not to win immediately but to focus on building the team for the future. However, things changed when general manager Mike Dunleavy decided to bring the former Heat star to the team.

A great responsibility on Butler’s shoulders

Kerr addressed the decision to bring in Butler and left a clear message for him: “I think a big reason for the trade is, you know, to help Steph, to help relieve some of that pressure… Jimmy is a guy who gets to the line a lot, doesn’t make many mistakes, so the possession tends to be very stable when the ball is in his hands. I imagine Jimmy is going to be very important for us, both alongside Steph and when Steph is not on the court,” he stated.

The role the 35-year-old player will take on is not easy, as he must ease some of the pressure on Curry while also providing a boost to the team. This could be exactly what the Warriors need to address the issues that have prevented them from achieving good results this season.

“He’s excited, we’re excited to have him, you know, and he’s excited to be here. That’s the purpose of making a big change, you know, you need an energy shift, and it was obvious this team needed it,” Kerr expressed.

However, the trade was not an easy move for the team, as it meant the departure of four key players: Kyle Anderson, Andrew Wiggins, PJ Tucker, and Davion Mitchell, who all went to Miami.

Finally, Steve Kerr revealed that Jimmy Butler could make his Warriors debut on Saturday in the game against the Bulls. There, he will have the chance to contribute his energy and skill, boosting the team’s morale.
