After spending 10 years with the Indiana Pacers, Myles Turner said farewell to his fans and teammates. What led the center to sign a four-year contract with the Milwaukee Bucks? He revealed the answer in a heartfelt message.
The deal was finalized in early July, leaving NBA fans stunned. Turner is now transitioning from one team to another—a perfect time to say goodbye to his former franchise and focus on what lies ahead with the Bucks.
According to a report by the New York Post, Turner’s Instagram post was analyzed in detail. The message was emotional and touched thousands of his followers. “It’s hard to put into words what the last 10 seasons and 10 years of my life have meant to me… From a teenager in Bedford, Texas, to the man and player I am today, Indy has always been home through it all,” said the center.
A heartfelt message to the Pacers
“You watched me grow, on and off the court. Just like you, I put on my helmet and clocked in and out every day…” he added. During a press conference on Friday, Turner explained that his goal with this move is “to stay competitive,” according to ESPN.
“Two years ago, we made it to the Conference Finals… Last year, we reached the Finals. Being a big part of winning basketball completely changed my perspective on this league. I saw the chance to stay competitive here,” said the 29-year-old.
Turner joined the Pacers in 2015, after being selected as the 11th overall pick. Since then, he played multiple roles and became known for his impressive three-point shooting, achieving nearly 40% accuracy from long range. Last season, he averaged 15.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
A special thank you
In his Instagram post, Turner thanked several local businesses in Indianapolis. “It’s been an absolute privilege to play at the Bankers Life/Gainbridge Fieldhouse… You stayed loyal through it all. You packed the Fieldhouse, rocked with us on the road, lifted me when I needed it most, and held me accountable when I needed that too… Man… I’ve probably spent more time with all of you than with my own family over the years. That’s real love, and I can’t thank you enough for embracing me from day one.”
He also thanked his former teammates, coaches, and Pacers staff, and closed his message with: “See you soon.”
