LeBron James is about to start his 23rd NBA season, which could be his last as an All-Star. His journey through the league has turned him into a global basketball ambassador. Fans wondered: will he use that influence to coach in the future? Recently, he gave them the long-awaited answer.

September has been a busy month for James. Nike launched a major campaign with him as the face. This coincided with his “Nike Forever King Tour” and the upcoming release of the Nike LeBron 23 sneakers. He also traveled to China to celebrate 20 years since his first Nike tour in Asia.

An icon of inspiration in professional basketball

According to Athlonsports, while in China, LeBron James gave an exclusive interview to CCTV, where he clarified his intentions about coaching after his NBA career.

His response was blunt: “No! No, no, no. No coaching for me. I will inspire the game. I love the game. But I don’t have coaching in my future.”

James has already worked with young players in camps and special events, and even though he enjoys those experiences, he made it clear he has no interest in becoming a full-time coach.

Instead, his mission is to inspire new generations to excel, work hard, and enjoy basketball. Through the Nike RISE program, the Lakers star continues to promote the sport he has dedicated over two decades of his life to.

On October 21, James will begin the 2025-26 NBA season. This time, he will team up with Slovenian star Luka Doncic in what promises to be an exciting duo. Their first matchup against Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors already has fans eager to see these legends clash once again.
