Kobe Bryant would have turned 47 on August 23. For that reason, Byron Scott paid tribute to the NBA legend by dedicating a podcast episode to him. The former Los Angeles Lakers star spoke about Bryant’s impact on the NBA.

What captured the audience’s attention was the milestone Bryant set in professional basketball, something that may never happen again in the NBA. Kobe achieved too many accomplishments to count.

A victorious career turned him into a legend

According to The Sports Rush, Kobe Bryant collected victories and shattered records in the NBA, including the 81 points scored in a single game. That’s why Scott honored those remarkable feats that placed Bryant above the rest.

In the Fast Break podcast, Scott recalled: “His last game… I had the pleasure of being there. I witnessed history.” At 37, Kobe scored 60 points in his farewell game, still the highest total ever recorded by a player in their final NBA game. This feat remains extremely difficult to surpass.

The five-time NBA champion amazed everyone. Scott highlighted: “I don’t think we’ll ever see anyone play 20 years in the NBA, knowing it’s their retirement year, and go out and score 60. Not even Jordan came close.”

Scott added: “In our lifetime, I don’t think we’ll see anyone replicate a performance like that.” What made it even more stunning was that Bryant had just recovered from an Achilles tendon injury.

Perhaps Scott will be proven wrong soon, since talents like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant approach the end of their careers. But the question remains: can they surpass Bryant’s 60-point farewell masterpiece?
