Kevin Durant has never hidden his love for interacting on social media. On the court or on X, the Phoenix Suns forward always shows his authentic self. His digital presence has made him one of the most controversial and transparent figures in modern basketball.
During his appearance on The Pivot podcast, host Ryan Clark asked why he spends so much time online. Durant answered honestly: “It’s just a quick release of something I might be feeling, and I don’t hold onto it for long.” He explained that replying to comments helps him stay connected to fans and the basketball community.
A brutally honest answer
According to The Sports Rush, the episode also addressed KD’s most infamous topic — his “burner accounts.” Channing Crowder asked why he switched between fake profiles. Durant didn’t hesitate: “I wanted to be stealthy. I didn’t want anyone to know it was me.” When Crowder questioned his need to respond to strangers, KD fired back: “He needs to know too. If you’re questioning what I do, why not get it from the source?”
Durant said those interactions don’t drain his time or energy. He believes they actually benefit the league by bringing players closer to fans. He also thinks more athletes should show their human side. “If we were all a little more authentic, our games would grow,” he said.
Now in his 18th NBA season, Durant continues to perform at a high level both on and off the court. With his direct approach, he shows he doesn’t fear media noise. His bond with fans remains a bridge that strengthens his connection to the game.
