Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson have been rivals on the golf course for a long time. However, after TGL’s debut in the indoor league, Mickelson shared his thoughts on Woods, praising his outstanding performance in the competition.

Both golf stars have worked hard to reach the highest level in the sport. They have faced each other in intense duels and high-stakes championships, where they continue to showcase the skills that make them great rivals.

Recognition beyond the rivalry

Even so, Phil Mickelson gave Tiger Woods the credit he deserves. In fact, he acknowledged the massive impact Woods has had on golf. Responding to a post on X about his rival’s debut, Mickelson wrote:

“This is great news! It would be amazing for golf if this succeeds. Golf fans are the most loyal in sports. They buy a ticket, walk miles, and only see a fraction of the action. But this could allow them to buy a ticket, sit down, and watch the action like in other sports. If it’s compelling, it could be great for the game.”

Thanks to Tiger Woods’ impressive debut, he has created a major buzz in the golf world, attracting thousands of fans and surpassing ESPN’s viewership expectations.

The numbers prove Woods’ impact

During the first season, the average number of viewers per-broadcast reached 502,400, with a total of 15 broadcasts. The numbers skyrocketed, surpassing one million viewers, especially in the second week when Tiger made his appearance.

But beyond these statistics, one of the most striking aspects is that Woods is drawing a younger audience. The average viewer age in the PGA and LIV is 63 years old, yet this time it dropped to 51.4 years.

This shift is invaluable for advertisers, who are now creating messages for younger audiences aged 25 to 54. These viewers are here to stay and are gradually transforming the way society watches golf.

And all of this was made possible by just one man: Tiger Woods.
