Simone Biles took a short trip to the Bahamas with some of her athlete friends. The goal was to completely disconnect from cameras, crowds, and everything that comes with being a public figure. However, she took a break from those mini-vacations to clarify some facts about her career as a gymnast.

Without a doubt, personal space is invaluable for Simone Biles. That is precisely why she decided to enjoy the sea in a well-deserved escape. In fact, it seems she really needed it, as a few days ago, she commented: “The easiest way to irritate me is to touch or grab me when I’m in public.” She truly finds it annoying when people approach her without her consent. But what made her interrupt the peace she was enjoying in the Bahamas?

A short but necessary interruption for Biles

The break taken by the star gymnast was to correct information published on the X account of “Ebony Magazine.” On March 10, the media outlet aimed to honor Biles’ legacy. The post read:

“Simone Biles’ legacy as a gymnastics pioneer is undeniable. As the first Black woman to win all-around world titles, she has earned 14 World Championship medals, including 10 golds, making her the most decorated U.S. gymnast in history. #ThePowerOfShe”.

This was accompanied by two images of the athlete. The first one was labeled: “SIMONE BILES: LEGENDARY ATHLETE AND FIRST BLACK WOMAN TO WIN ALL-AROUND WORLD TITLES.” However, the facts were incorrect, and Simone Biles made sure to set the record straight.

Simone Biles response was a very direct correction: **”30 World Championship medals. 23 golds.” In fact, these numbers make her the gymnast with the most medals in history, not just in the U.S.

Simone Biles’ first World Championship was in 2013, and since then, she has won many competitions, including major victories at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Without a doubt, she was born to break records in what she loves: gymnastics. In fact, she is the first woman to perform the Yurchenko double pike vault. Therefore, her correction was entirely accurate, as it represents her incredible legacy.
