At 38 years old, Novak Djokovic continues to defy time, but he acknowledges that a new generation is taking over. The 24-time Grand Slam champion admitted that he has “doubts” about whether he can still defeat Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in major tournaments.

In an interview with Piers Morgan, Djokovic stated, “I’m aware that [comparing] my best level now and their best level now, they’re better. That’s the reality… I have doubts that I can win Slams against these two guys. But when I step on the court, I always believe I’m better, that I deserve to win, and I’ll do everything to win.”

The challenge of staying on top

According to Firstsportz report, Sinner and Alcaraz have split the last eight Grand Slams. The Italian eliminated Djokovic from both the French Open and Wimbledon, while the Spaniard defeated him at the US Open. Still, the Serbian veteran remains fiercely competitive and determined to keep playing until the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Currently, Sinner leads their head-to-head series 6–4, having won their last five meetings. Against Alcaraz, Djokovic holds a narrow 5–4 advantage. Despite the numbers, he refuses to lose motivation. His most recent triumph came at the Hellenic Championship, where he defeated Lorenzo Musetti.

The seven-time ATP Finals champion is preparing to compete once again in Turin, the same event he won in 2023 by beating Sinner. Though age may be catching up, his competitive fire remains intact.

The tennis world watches closely as the Serbian adapts to an era dominated by rising stars. Yet Djokovic, far from giving in, appears ready to fight until the very end.
