This week, King Charles made it clear where he’s investing his future in the “royal locker room.” During a state banquet at Windsor Castle with President Emmanuel Macron, he praised Prince William and Kate Middleton for building a solid family home. Their move to Adelaide Cottage and embrace of tradition earned applause. All of this happened without a single mention of Prince Harry.

Yes—Prince Harry, once seen as the “rebel son” with undeniable charisma, was again absent from the royal lineup. Media outlets like The Express note that Harry remains distanced from Buckingham Palace, a reality that’s played out repeatedly since his move to the United States with his wife Meghan Markle.

King Charles spoke about legacy and continuity, about Windsor Castle as a historic symbol, and about William as the natural heir—even noting he shares a name with the Duke of Normandy who began Windsor’s construction back in 1070. The Duke of Sussex said he doesn’t know how much time his father may have left, and wants to bridge the distance before it’s too late.
