Oscar De La Hoya dismissed the possibility of a rematch between Devin Haney and Ryan García, nearly a year after García shocked Haney with a victory. Contrary to what fans expected, De La Hoya insists they won’t fight again. They clashed in April last year, but one event changed the outcome.
After KingRy and The Dream faced off, Haney secured a majority decision win. However, officials nullified the victory after García tested positive for a banned substance (ostarine). Boxing authorities then suspended García for a year and fined him.
Later, Haney sued García for fraud, assault, and breach of contract. This year, both fighters agreed to schedule another bout as a form of rematch. In return, Haney would drop the lawsuit.

However, if both fighters win their upcoming matches in New York on May 2, the rematch won’t happen. Ryan García will take on Rolly Romero, while Devin Haney will fight José Ramírez.
Will the rematch happen?
Oscar De La Hoya, Ryan García’s promoter, doubts the rematch will take place. He even believes Ramírez will defeat Haney. During an interview with DAZN Boxing, he stated: “I feel that Ramírez is going to beat Devin Haney.”
“We won’t see two Ryan-Devin Haney fights. I believe Ramírez will steal the show. I believe Ramírez will beat Devin Haney,” he added. Regarding the rematch’s potential outcome, De La Hoya backs KingRy’s left hook, predicting García will win by knockout.
