The Grand Slam that took 23 years
John Cena’s retirement arrives with a milestone that had long eluded him: the Intercontinental Championship. Just days ago, he dethroned Dominik Mysterio and completed the Grand Slam. With that, he added the missing belt after 17 world titles, two Royal Rumble victories, and multiple WrestleMania main events. That triumph not only filled a gap in his trophy case but also gave symbolic weight to his farewell. In short, Cena leaves with the showcase complete.
Over 23 years you’ve allowed me to have 544 matches on #WWERaw. The most in WWE history. My favorite match.. is my next one! Which will be our LAST ONE! Don’t miss our last chance to grace @TheGarden ring as we say farewell to RAW live, Monday night on @netflix at 8pm ET!

According to Firstsportz, the original plan was for the title change to happen at Survivor Series in San Diego. But it ultimately took place in Boston, his hometown. That decision added an emotional layer to John Cena’s farewell, though speculation remains about whether WWE will adjust the storyline for Survivor Series.
Rumors dismissed
On the other hand, several outlets highlighted that the idea of a “dream team” of babyfaces with John Cena, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and Jey Uso was discarded. There was also talk of his possible participation in WarGames, though without confirmation of Reigns. What is clear is that Cena now faces his final dates with the focus on the Intercontinental title and the closing of his Raw chapter.
Beyond the card, the conversation centers on his legacy. Matt Hardy, a locker room partner since Cena’s debut in 2002, called him the greatest of all time in WWE. Hardy compared him to names like Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, The Rock, and Hulk Hogan, but stressed that no one was more consistent or more loyal to the company than John Cena.
A farewell that transcends
John Cena’s final calendar includes Raw at MSG on November 17, Survivor Series on November 29, and his retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13. Each date will serve as a tribute to a man who not only collected titles but also became the face of social campaigns like Make-A-Wish, where he has granted more than 650 wishes for children.
