Anthony Joshua announced that after 12 years under a professional contract with Matchroom Boxing, he plans to retire. In response, YouTuber and boxer Jake Paul reacted by issuing a warning to the Olympic gold medalist.
“Twelve years ago, I signed with you, and twelve years later, I will throw my last punch with you,” Joshua wrote on his Instagram story. He also made a toast in honor of the royalty and loyalty of his team.
According to Essentiallysports, Paul replied to a DAZN Boxing post on X, in which Matchroom highlighted Joshua’s anniversary with a photo collage. The post included the caption: “Two-time heavyweight world champion, sold-out stadiums — what a journey it’s been so far.”
Jake Paul quoted the post on his X account and issued a warning: “They’re gonna drop his awhenIputhimonhisa when I put him on his a. Bookmark that.” This stirred up significant buzz among professional boxing fans. In addition, Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s longtime promoter, hinted at the possibility of a Paul vs. Joshua fight.

Hearn had always doubted Jake Paul’s legitimacy. However, his opinion changed after Paul’s victory over former WBC middleweight champion Julio César Chávez Jr.
Winning that fight was a major milestone for Paul and opened the door for a potential future match against Anthony Joshua. “I’ve surprised myself this week because I actually haven’t given him the respect I think he deserves,” the 46-year-old promoter said in an interview with Sky Sports.
He also admitted that Jake Paul is more of a boxer than a YouTuber, as his sports performance has earned him a relevant position. “Is he among the top 15 in the world? Don’t be ridiculous. But in the top 100? Maybe,” he added.
