The event took place at War Memorial Stadium during halftime of the Wyoming–Nevada game, which ended in a 13–7 loss for the Cowboys. Allen watched his No. 17 jersey become immortalized high above the stadium. The quarterback played three seasons at Wyoming before being selected seventh overall in the 2018 Draft. His college development was gradual, defined by the program’s patience and his own resilience.
A college career preserved forever
According to the New York Post, only three athletes in the school’s history had received such an honor. Fennis Dembo and Kenny Sailors, both basketball icons, were already part of the prestigious group. Allen became the third, as confirmed by ESPN. His speech reflected his connection with the community. “I feel very honored and blessed to represent this university and this beautiful state. I love you guys. Thank you. God bless you. Go Pokes, and it will always suck to be a CSU Ram,” he told the fans.

His family attended the ceremony. His parents, Joel and Lavonne, watched proudly. The tribute came at a difficult moment for Allen, as the Bills are struggling following a 23–19 loss to the Texans. Allen completed 24 of 34 passes with two interceptions and no touchdowns, and he was sacked eight times. His frustration showed when he slammed his helmet after a failed play.
Head coach Sean McDermott was direct. “When the quarterback gets hit 12 times, I don’t like that. I don’t like that stat at all.” The Bills sit at 7–4, still in the playoff race.
