Sophie Cunningham is enjoying a special moment in her career with the Indiana Fever. The guard has become a fan favorite thanks to her intensity and relentless defense. She currently averages 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals per game. Her chemistry with Caitlin Clark has grown from day one. Both players showed a close relationship during their first WNBA season together.

Their bond strengthened after the incident with Jacy Sheldon. Cunningham defended Clark during a matchup against the Connecticut Sun, and that moment changed how many fans saw her. Since then, she has become the team’s enforcer. Her reputation exploded on social media, and more fans began following her. Expectations rose with every game.

A friendship beyond the WNBA

According to Athlon Sports, the relationship between Cunningham and Clark also extends off the court. A recent pro-am event before THE ANNIKA produced some memorable images. Cunningham acted as Clark’s caddie, alongside Lexie Hull. That closeness created new moments between them. Their interactions show a fun and sincere dynamic.

During that event, Cunningham received a question that sparked laughter. Someone asked her to pick the last person she would want managing her social-media accounts. Her answer made the reason clear. “1000% Caitlin. A 1000%.” She then added: “Ella es una [palabrota] iniciante, así que definitivamente, ya sabes, empezaría algunas cosas ahí.” Her remark triggered a wave of comments online. Fans even celebrated her honesty.

Clark often jokes around with Cunningham. Both players regularly exchange messages on social media. That explains the 29-year-old’s candid answer. One memorable example happened in August, when Cunningham posted a video with Hull in swimsuits. She pitched an idea to bikini brands: “Esta noche nos vamos a nuestro partido. Convéncenos de que hay una marca de bañadores que quiere asociarse con dos sirenas de Indiana Fever.” Clark replied with humor, asking brands to “por favor, comentaran ‘céntrate en el baloncesto’.”

Fans now wait for Clark’s reaction. Her constant activity on social media suggests it will arrive soon. Their relationship keeps growing, and Indiana Fever benefits from the unique connection between its stars.
