Nyck Harbor shined in a key matchup for South Carolina, but he also ended up at the center of a controversial scene that exploded online. The receiver, one of Shane Beamer’s standout talents, delivered an explosive performance against the undefeated Texas A&M Aggies. However, an unexpected collision in the tunnel drew all the attention during the second quarter.
The moment unfolded right after Harbor celebrated a spectacular touchdown. LaNorris Sellers hit him with a precise pass, and Harbor sprinted 80 yards to score a play that electrified the team. His momentum carried him into the tunnel, where he celebrated with teammates. As he made his way back to the field, a Texas State officer stepped directly into his path, creating instant tension.
A confrontation that sparked outrage
According to Firstsportz, replays showed the officer yelling and pointing at Harbor. The gesture triggered massive backlash. The video went viral within minutes. Many viewers called the officer’s reaction excessive. Among them was LeBron James, who didn’t hesitate to weigh in. The NBA champion labeled the situation “corny,” reflecting the widespread frustration.

“The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is aware of the incident that occurred today during the Texas A&M football game. The DPS Trooper involved was removed from the game. Our Office of Inspector General (OIG) is also aware of the incident and will further investigate the matter. No additional information will be released at this time,” the Texas DPS said in a statement.
Shane Beamer praised the quick response. “I have a lot of respect for the people here in College Station. It’s a first-class operation, everyone, from a game-day operations standpoint… They do a great job and they’re first-class people, so I appreciate how well they handled it and that they sent him home.”
Harbor’s performance wasn’t enough to avoid defeat. Texas A&M scored 28 straight points in the second half. South Carolina lost and fell to a tough 3-7 record. Harbor finished with three catches, more than 100 yards, and a touchdown. The controversy defined the night, but his talent stood out once again.
