While the WNBA continues negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement, Collier’s 3×3 league, Unrivaled, is taking a bold step forward. The player-founded organization confirmed a major expansion for its upcoming second season, adding two new franchises—Breeze BC and Hive BC—raising the total to eight teams.

The December internal draft will play a decisive role in shaping the next phase of the league. Each franchise will select six players from six balanced positional pools to ensure competitive equity. Veteran teams can protect up to two returning players, while newcomers like Breeze and Hive will build their rosters from scratch.

New teams, new coaches, and a fresh competitive format

According to Essentiallysports, Breeze BC earned the first overall pick in the draft lottery. The upcoming season will also introduce four new head coaches: Noelle Quinn (Breeze BC), Rooneka Hodges (Phantom BC), Zach O’Brien (Mist BC), and Rena Wakama (Hive BC). They will join a mix of returning fan favorites and seasoned leaders such as Teresa Weatherspoon and Andrew Wade.

General Manager Clare Duwelius expressed her excitement over the new additions: “We’re thrilled to add such exceptional talent to our group of head coaches. They’ll elevate the strong foundation established by our inaugural staff in Unrivaled.”

Since its debut, Unrivaled has positioned itself as a vibrant, player-driven alternative to the WNBA. Its fast-paced format, fan-friendly atmosphere, and emphasis on pay equity and player empowerment have quickly earned it a loyal following. The league’s model allows athletes to showcase their individuality and skill in a dynamic environment designed to celebrate women’s basketball on their own terms.

With new franchises, familiar stars, and growing media exposure, the 2026 season is shaping up to be a turning point for Unrivaled. As Collier continues to redefine the landscape of women’s basketball, her vision for a sustainable, player-led competition is closer than ever to becoming a lasting reality.
