But beyond the round number, what really stands out is his pace. Patrick Mahomes averages 287 passing yards per game—the highest in NFL history. Yes, even higher than Tom Brady, who finished his career with an average of 266.3 yards per game over 23 seasons.

In just 118 games, Patrick Mahomes has already racked up more than 33,800 passing yards. For context, many quarterbacks don’t reach that mark even after 15 years in the league. Tom Brady, on the other hand, needed 335 games to reach the 89,214 yards that still stand as the all-time record. The difference between the two isn’t just volume—it’s efficiency. Analysts point out that Mahomes throws more, takes more risks, and connects deeper.

At his current pace—roughly 4,879 yards per 17-game season—Patrick Mahomes would need about 11 to 12 full seasons to match Tom Brady’s total. Of course, that assumes he stays healthy, maintains his elite level, and continues to thrive in Andy Reid’s offensive system. It’s a tall order, but not out of reach.
