Jimmy Butler’s arrival at the Golden State Warriors was one of the most talked-about moves at the NBA trade deadline. It didn’t draw the same media frenzy as the Luka Doncic–Anthony Davis swap, but its impact on the court was immediate. With Butler on the roster, the Warriors posted a 23–8 record, climbing from tenth to seventh in the West. They also eliminated the Rockets in the first round before falling to the Timberwolves due to injuries.

The fit between Butler, Stephen Curry, and Draymond Green was surprisingly natural. Expectations are now high, especially with a full preseason together. The Warriors’ star has one clear goal: build stronger team chemistry, and he recently revealed his mission.

A powerful motivation for the 2025–26 season

According to The Sports Rush, Jimmy Butler sat down for an interview with Kerith Burke from NBC Sports Bay Area. There, he explained that his motivation goes beyond chasing his first championship ring—he’s focused on helping Curry and Green win their fifth.

“It would mean a lot to me… But it would mean even more if they won. They’re already solidified in the Basketball Hall of Fame and the league. We know that. But to separate yourself from others—when you get five, you’re there.”

Butler’s words mark a dramatic change from last year. In 2024, his relationship with Pat Riley and the Miami Heat had completely broken down. His move to Golden State represented a fresh start, and he quickly adapted to the team’s system. After the trade, he signed a two-year, $111 million extension, showing his full commitment to the project.

The Warriors also strengthened their roster with Al Horford, another player known for his intelligence and winning mentality. With Curry, Green, and Butler leading the charge, Golden State once again looks like a serious contender. If injuries don’t get in the way, the Warriors could become a real threat in the title race—and Butler would fulfill his purpose: help two legends reach greatness once again.
