As time goes by, priorities and hobbies evolve, and NBA superstar LeBron James is no exception. At 40, he spent his summer differently than in past years. During his break, he decided to take up golf — a calmer, low-impact sport.
It seems the King of the Court is hinting at what his future life might look like. Once his 23-year NBA career comes to an end, he may dedicate more time to golf — a sport that’s easy on the body and brings him joy.
A new way to enjoy summer
According to The Sports Rush, LeBron appeared on the premiere episode of “Mind the Game” alongside co-host Steve Nash, where he discussed his newfound passion. Nash asked how he spent the summer after four decades of playing basketball. The Lakers legend replied, “Trying to stay off the court as much as possible. I’m trying to save everything because once the season starts, it’s a challenge — it’s a marathon.”

“You want to build each month, get stronger every month. So I try to stay off the court as much as possible. I wanted to challenge my mind with something new — and I actually learned a little golf,” he added.
The four-time NBA champion spoke about what he enjoys most about golf as an individual sport. “I don’t have to make sure a teammate is in the right spot. I don’t need my teammate to make the right play for us to win. It’s me versus every hole — and it’s the most mentally challenging thing ever,” he said.
LeBron’s interest in golf came unexpectedly, but he plans to keep enjoying it in the future. “My social media algorithm… every other post or video is some kind of golf clip now,” he admitted.
