The NFL community was shocked on Sunday after Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver Keontez Lewis suffered a frightening accident. Was during the matchup against the Kent State Golden Flashes. A misstep caused a violent fall that forced medical personnel to remove him from the field on an emergency stretcher.

Football is a high-impact sport where injuries are common, yet some moments still leave fans speechless. That was the case with Lewis, who was rushed to the hospital for evaluation and treatment after the incident.

A frightening moment on the field

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Lewis took a hard hit to the head during the first quarter of the game. He was about to receive a pass from quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. when he lost his balance and crashed headfirst into a wall near the sidelines. The combination of his body weight and running speed made the impact extremely strong.

Once he hit the ground, Lewis lay motionless for several seconds, causing deep concern among his teammates, coaches, and fans. Medical staff immediately rushed to his aid, examined him on the field, and then immobilized him before transporting him off on a stretcher.

The crowd at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium fell silent, stunned by the severity of the scene. Minutes later, Oklahoma’s internal radio broadcast reported encouraging news. Lewis had no major bone injuries and was able to walk on his own shortly after the incident. However, his availability for the team’s next game remains uncertain.

Head coach Brent Venables personally visited Lewis after the match and shared an update: “He was alert… just dealing with some back pain.” The player also reassured everyone, saying “my head and legs feel fine.”

While the team awaits further medical evaluation. Fans across the country have expressed relief that Lewis avoided a more serious outcome, sending messages of support and wishing him a speedy recovery.
