The NBA and its fans were shocked by Kevin Durant’s reflection on a possible return to the Golden State Warriors. It seems he reacted to the rumors of a potential trade from Phoenix back to San Francisco.

Durant won two titles and Finals MVP awards with the Warriors. However, his confession about a possible comeback left his followers astonished. Recently, he spoke to Game Plan Sports about what such a move would mean for him.

A piece of news that impacted Durant

According to the report from Mundo Deportivo, Kevin Durant admitted he felt uncomfortable when he first heard the rumors of a trade. In fact, he did not like finding out that he could leave Phoenix. He also confirmed that his manager, Rich Kleiman, was key in the process, and that his current relationship with the Warriors made conversations easier between both sides.

The idea of a trade back to Golden State was an internal proposal within the NBA. “At first, I felt a little upset because I believed we had built a solid relationship, the Phoenix Suns and I. And hearing that from someone else was a bit upsetting, but that’s life. So I got over it quickly and was trying to decide what the next steps would be,” said the forward.

“I heard that Golden State was in the mix near the trade deadline, but that’s when Rich Kleiman stepped in, and those relationships we built in the league and also from playing in Golden State helped,” he added, explaining how his connections with the franchise influenced the discussions.

This means that the possible trade was not just a rumor. It was truly on the table as a realistic move that could have materialized. It was part of a roster analysis made by the team after the end of the NBA regular season.
