The Indiana Fever had a very tough season in the WNBA. Injuries to stars like Caitlin Clark made the road even harder. However, coach Stephanie White relied on Kelsey Mitchell as a key weapon to keep the team afloat.

Mitchell is a versatile and efficient player, whose skills turned her into the center of attention for the Fever. She shoots 45.6% from the field and 39.4% from three-point range. Without a doubt, she’s among the best shooting guards in the league right now.

A true star for the Fever

According to Essentiallysports, Kelsey Mitchell scored 34 points in 34 minutes, adding three assists and two steals. She even ranks top 5 in the MVP race, with 93 total points.

Recently, coach Stephanie White praised her star guard, saying: “I mean, I know for me, Kelsey is a tough shooter. She’s always moving, she’s so quick, probably the fastest player in the league with the ball in her hands. She has to work incredibly hard for every shot she gets. So for her to do what she does, with that level of efficiency, is pretty amazing.”

White added: “There have been several times this season when she carried us on her back. She kept leading, kept pouring into her teammates, and we’ve seen days like today where multiple players step up. That’s what it will take for us to succeed.

It’s not just White who admires her. Kelsey Plum from the Sparks also highlighted Mitchell:
“You know who’s really tough to guard and doesn’t get enough flowers? Kelsey Mitchell… She’s so fast, she can stop on a dime.

In 24 games, Mitchell scored over 20 points in every single one this season. In the playoffs, she’s averaging 26.0 points per game, matching A’ja Wilson. Without a doubt, she’s a huge asset for the Fever, and White knows it.
