High expectations
While Deion Sanders remains the face of the project, the team needed a spark on the field. That spark came in the form of Kaidon Salter. The young quarterback arrived in Colorado with high expectations after his time at Liberty, but his journey has been anything but smooth. His talent was never in question—his consistency was. After losing the starting job earlier in the season, Salter took back control against Wyoming and delivered.

In just two and a half quarters, Salter threw three touchdown passes, including a 47-yard strike to Joseph Williams. He completed 13 of 21 attempts for 251 yards and added 40 rushing yards on eight carries. His performance earned him back the starting role and reignited hopes that the Buffaloes—and Deion Sanders—can contend this season.
Sanders’ blueprint
What makes Salter intriguing is his ability to improvise outside the playbook. He’s mobile, has vision, and a strong arm that can produce explosive plays. If he can stabilize his performance, he might become the ideal piece for Deion Sanders’ blueprint—a team that doesn’t just win, but entertains.
Deion Sanders has taken risks by rotating quarterbacks, and this time, it paid off. If Salter keeps this level of play, Colorado could reclaim some of the spotlight it had in 2024, when Travis Hunter won the Heisman and the team broke into the national top tier.
Beyond the scoreboard, one thing is clear. Deion Sanders has made Colorado Buffaloes more than just a college football program. It’s a brand, a storyline, and an economic engine. And with Kaidon Salter heating up, Boulder has every reason to dream big.
