Contrary to what WNBA fans expected, Angel Reese’s Chicago Sky failed to deliver success. Despite having the All-Star forward, the team did not meet expectations this season. So, what will Reese do now?

Recently, Reese made a shocking statement that surprised many Sky fans. She said that if the franchise does not strengthen its roster, she will consider leaving for another team.

A direct threat to the Sky

According to Essentiallysports, Reese showed remarkable improvement in her rookie year, averaging 14.6 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. These are some of the highest numbers in the league, but they were not enough to lift the Sky into a strong WNBA position this season.

Reese made it clear: “I’m not settling for what we did this year. We need to get good players. We need to get great players. … I can help get the best here, that’s what I’m going to do this offseason… I’d like to stay here for my career, but if things don’t work out, I obviously might have to move in a different direction and do what’s best for me.”

Her message is crystal clear: If the Sky don’t upgrade their roster, she will leave. The big question is whether fans will support such a bold move. Reactions on social media have been mixed, though many seem to side with Reese.

Some of the most notable posts on X include: “I mean, she’s not wrong”; “I mean, what do you expect? That’s how winners talk”; “I agree with Angel! The talent has to be there. It looks like the W needs to let these younger players shine and get rid of washed-up players. Non-producers have to go. These young players are here now and deserve chances to thrive!”

Others even encouraged her to join different franchises, with comments like “Come to the Aces. We’d love you” and “Angel Reese, you’re a valkyrie.”

Still, some WNBA fans believe these statements sound too premature in just her second year. Now, everything depends on what the Chicago Sky front office decides next.
