The Dallas Cowboys confirmed Micah Parsons’ departure from the team. The dispute with Jerry Jones never reached an agreement, and the player left for another NFL team. This decision put the franchise owner under fire, as critics blame him for failing to adapt to a league that changes constantly.

Experts argue that Jones’ insistence on acting as both owner and general manager is backfiring. Parsons’ exit proves his decisions keep the team stuck in mediocrity.

A decision that will hurt the Cowboys

According to The Sports Rush, the trade triggered harsh criticism from analysts like Mike Florio, who insists that the Cowboys could have handled things better. Parsons, 26 years old, waited for a contract extension since last year, but Jones refused. Instead, he delayed negotiations, criticized Parsons’ fitness, and froze out his agent.

That left Parsons with no choice: he requested a trade. The relationship between Jones, Parsons, and his agent was broken beyond repair.

Now, Parsons joins the Green Bay Packers, after being traded for Kenny Clark and two first-round picks. He signed a $188 million contract, which seems like a win-win, but experts disagree.

Florio blasted Dallas, calling them “idiots” for making the trade after the draft instead of before. He argued:
“If you’re going to trade Micah Parsons, you do it before the 2025 draft. At least then, you get a first-rounder now and a player who can help immediately. I’m stunned the Cowboys botched this so badly. They deserve every bit of criticism they’re getting.”

Even though Jerry Jones believes the trade helps push the franchise to the playoffs, Florio predicts the Cowboys will continue their streak of missing the NFC Championship Game.
