During Tuesday’s final interview session with the Chiefs’ players, reporters spoke to Mike Danna first. However, he quickly realized the media focused almost entirely on one subject: the engagement of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.
Without intending to, Danna became the team’s de facto spokesman on the matter, since he was the first Kansas City Chiefs player to address the press after the couple’s announcement.
A barrage of questions about the future spouses
According to the New York Post, Mike Danna joked: “I don’t know anything… When I tell you that being the first to talk to you about this wasn’t on my mind, that’s shocking to me.”
The defensive end still answered multiple questions about the engagement. “Good for them, that’s a blessing… Anytime you find that kind of joy, happiness, and love, I think it’s a beautiful thing.”

When asked whether the team already knew, Danna admitted: “They told me 30 seconds ago, so I don’t even know if the guys know… But that’s amazing. I’m so happy for them, Trav, Taylor. That’s a wonderful moment in life, a beautiful part of their journey. That’s something great to see.”
A reporter even asked about Taylor Swift’s homemade Pop-Tarts. Danna laughed and replied: “Man, listen, those things will get you in trouble… They’re like dessert, they’re fire. You have one, you’re gonna want two, maybe three. She made Pop-Tarts for entire position groups, I think last year. And when I tell you, the defensive line went crazy. As soon as we found out she made them, we were like, ‘we need four more boxes.’”
Finally, Taylor Swift herself shared the news in a joint Instagram account, writing: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” The post included romantic photos of Kelce’s proposal.
