Angel Reese doesn’t need flashy headlines to get noticed. Her game speaks louder than any hype. In her second season in the WNBA, the Chicago Sky star has once again proven that her impact goes far beyond the box score. After missing several games due to a back injury, Angel Reese came back strong and recorded her 20th double-double of the season. That brings her total to 46 across her first two years as a pro.

That number isn’t just impressive—it’s historic. Angel Reese broke the record previously held by Tina Charles, who had 45 double-doubles in her first two seasons with the Connecticut Sun back in 2011. Reese reached 46 in just 61 games, while Charles needed 68. Outlets like Firstsportz have highlighted this milestone as one of the most significant achievements in Reese’s young career. At just 23 years old, she’s already shaping up to be one of the league’s dominant forces.

Defensive evolution

What’s really caught the attention of fans and analysts is Angel Reese’s growth on the defensive end. In a recent matchup against the Las Vegas Aces, Reese took on the challenge of guarding three-time MVP A’ja Wilson, who had dropped 36 points in her previous outing. This time, Wilson was held to just 18. There’s no stat that fully captures it, but anyone who watched the game saw how Reese’s positioning, court awareness, and discipline made the difference.

Offensively, Angel Reese’s numbers have also taken a step forward. She’s averaging 14.5 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game in the 2025 season. Her efficiency has improved, especially from the free-throw line, where she’s hitting at a 77.8% clip. She’s also showing a growing ability to create plays from the post. Giving Chicago Sky more options in their offensive sets.

Key decisions

Still, the team hasn’t found consistency. Ariel Atkins has had standout nights, and Cardoso has shown flashes, but no one has matched the steady production of Angel Reese. With the franchise already out of playoff contention, they face a crucial decision: build around their most reliable player or keep betting on a core that hasn’t delivered.

Angel Reese, meanwhile, keeps stacking accolades. She’s now the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 30 double-doubles, doing it in just 42 games. Even though her team hasn’t had the strongest season, Reese stands out as one of the most complete players in the league—and she’s just getting started.
