Angel Reese doesn’t seem too excited about the Chicago Sky’s performance in the WNBA. This season, the team finished with a 9-27 record, ranked 12th in the league standings, and missed the playoffs.

Faced with this situation, the guard expressed her feelings and shared her vision for the team’s future. Despite the tough season, she keeps a positive mindset and refuses to let the results bring her down.

A painful loss and unshaken motivation

According to Essentiallysports, Reese spoke honestly about her team’s playoff elimination: “I mean, we had another chance to play the game we love, to play at this professional level, and to face the best talent every night. Not everyone gets this opportunity. So we don’t take it for granted.”

She also highlighted that their biggest motivation is the love for basketball. Reaching the WNBA, which she calls the toughest league in the world, fills Reese with pride. Commissioner Cathy Engelbert even defines it as the “most elite women’s sports league in the world.”

For Reese, just being part of it is already a win. Doing what she loves keeps her going, even through defeats. It’s her reason to give everything she has on the court every single night.

And she proves it: Reese became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 450 points and 450 rebounds. She’s also the first to grab 15+ rebounds in four straight games.

She shines on the court. However, her individual brilliance wasn’t enough to carry her team to the playoffs this year. Right now, she averages 14.4 points and 12.2 rebounds per game. That’s the motivation she needs to keep pushing, even in adversity.
