On Friday, Micah Parsons caught the spotlight with his behavior during the Cowboys’ last preseason game against the Falcons. The two-time All-Pro showed up without his uniform at AT&T Stadium. Spectators saw him walking through the tunnel eating nachos and later lying down on the team’s medical table.

Parsons’ contract situation with Dallas remains unresolved. In fact, when an Atlanta fan yelled at him to join their franchise, Parsons made a surprising “call me” gesture.

The contract situation remains unresolved

According to the New York Post, Parsons refuses to back down from his demand for a lucrative contract extension that Jerry Jones does not want to accept. His behavior during the game prompted Dallas sportscaster Mike Leslie to criticize him.

Parsons responded by saying he only lay on the table for a “relatively short portion.” He added: “The way the media shapes perception is wild… I would never disrespect the guys fighting for their lives.”

Cowboys offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said he wasn’t aware of the incident since he focused on the game, which the Cowboys won 31-13.

Parsons’ availability for Week 1 came into question, not because of his contract but due to a back MRI. Teammate Trevon Diggs explained: “It depends on how his back feels… He was really sore this morning. He got it checked. That’s the last I heard.”

Jerry Jones suggested that Parsons’ back issue might be a negotiation tactic. He denied any intention to trade Parsons and blamed agent David Mulugheta: “We were going to send the offer, and the agent said don’t bother… I had already moved on several points, but now the agent is trying to step in.”

Still, Parsons is ready to start the NFL regular season. The only uncertainty for fans is whether they will see him play with the Cowboys or if he will land a better deal with another franchise.
