On Sunday night, Indiana Fever fans lost their patience. During the matchup against the Connecticut Sun, Sophie Cunningham became the latest player on the team’s injury list.

Fans’ frustration is clear. On social media, they describe this stage as the “season from hell” for the franchise. In just one week, the team lost three of its most important players. Cunningham was the last hope, but she left the court with a knee injury, and the severity remains unknown.

An unusual situation for the Indiana Fever

According to Essentiallysports, Caitlin Clark has missed 13 games due to a groin injury. This was a huge blow for the team, and reports suggest she won’t return anytime soon. To make matters worse, defenders Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson both went down in the same game against the Mercury and are now out for the season.

On Sunday, Cunningham’s turn came. She left the court in tears during the second quarter because of knee pain. The seriousness of her injury is still unclear, but it would not be surprising if she also misses the rest of the season. This only deepens the Fever’s misfortune, as they have become defenseless without their star players in just one month.

“This is the season from hell. I’ve told you before—it feels like someone out there has a voodoo doll of the Indiana Fever players and is stabbing them relentlessly because they just can’t catch a break, especially when it comes to injuries.” That’s how Rachel DeMita described the situation in a recent episode of Courtside Club.

Fans quickly took to social media to express their frustration. One of the most heartfelt messages read:
“Absolutely heartbroken for the Fever and everyone on that team who have dealt with so many injuries and just can’t catch a break. I know a lot of people like to criticize Steph White, but at some point, what can she do? The physical and mental toll this takes on the players is almost a given at this point.”

Another fan wrote: “I literally just said the same thing… My heart breaks for the players… So many injuries this year, but Indy and Storm guards took the hardest hits (even though Storm players got hurt during the W offseason).” The sadness among Indiana Fever fans is evident.
